It’s time to think of spring…
Oh how I love spring. Actually I love all the seasons for different reasons but spring is full of the promise of summer. This is a shot I took a few years ago while out with my camera. Some shots you have to work really hard for and others just fall in your lap.
I was originally drawn to these flowers because of the colours. As I moved around them looking for a composition I liked, a beautifully marked butterfly flew into shot and landed. I couldn’t believe how well it matched in with the flowers and I managed a few shots before it took flight again.
The shot was handheld at f5.6, 1/250th sec at ISO 200. I know conventional wisdom says you should use a tripod for shots like this, but I find people are much happier to say yes to a few handheld shots in their garden than with a tripod. I’d rather up my ISO a little bit and get the shot than risk not getting it at all.
