The fluid in which we live…
Well Monday has rolled around again and that means it’s Depth of Field Monday #DOFMonday over on Google+. Just a quick posting from me today as I thought you might be interested in what I posted for this fab theme…
Hope you are all having a wonderful Easter and having fun with your cameras.
Ooo Greasy?
Yesterday I shared this shot for Depth of Field Monday on Google+. I took it recently at the Science Museum in London up in their aviation room. Unfortunately I only had about 10 minutes in there to play with my 50mm prime lens so I just sort of ran round and shot things. Which means I didn’t note down exactly what I was shooting… Oh well it doesn’t stop me liking the shot but it did get a ‘OOoooo greasy. What is it?’ comment on g+ hence the title of this post. I know it was part of an aircraft engine but I can’t remember which one…..
I love photographing industrial things like engines as much as beautiful sunrises (a friend asked recently – What is it with you and sunrise?). There is something beautiful about a well engineered structure that appeals to me. While I love some of the amazing designs mankind has come up with, I always want to sneak a peek at how it all works.
Daily Themes : Depth of Field…
Good morning everyone. It’s a beautiful Sunday morning and I’ve finally found time to sit down and update the blog. The last week or so I’ve been really busy, if I was to try and tell you everything in one go this post would be horribly long. So I’m going to start with some daily themes from Google+.
A little while ago I was approached by the wonderful Helena Martins and asked if I’d be interested in helping to curate a daily photo theme on Google+ with herself and Lynda Bowyer.. My answer was a resounding yes and soon it was all decided. Three themes were chosen and each of us would take point on one of them. I took Monday with the theme of Depth of Field #DOFMonday.
I love Depth of Field images and so it made perfect sense for me to do this. It also gives me an excuse to play with my 50mm prime, not that I need an excuse.
I adore the way this technique can make your subject pop from the background. This is the shot I chose as the avatar for the page. I love sunflowers but I can’t grow them for toffee.
This following shot is of a row of old hourglasses and it’ll be the one I share for the theme on Google+ tomorrow. I could have spent hours photographing these intriguing objects but unfortunately I only had a few minutes.
Have a great week and if you’re on Google+ check out the #DOFMonday theme tomorrow… (Hmmmm and I might try and sneak another DOF shot in tomorrow hehe…)
