Remember that beach I blogged about the other day? Well I took the dogs back for an afternoon run.
Memories
Recently I have needed to revisit the North East of England, back to the area where I grow up. Anyone from here will be the first to admit that it’s not really a tourist destination, or a common photographic one. The area has a strong industrial past which is still very much evident in the landscape. That said I have wonderful memories of growing up playing on the beaches and exploring the local woods and denes.
This particular beach is between Horden and Blackhall by the mouth of Castle Eden Dene. Unable to sleep I’d gone out for a morning wander through the dene to the sea. It wasn’t great photography weather but as I set up on the beach, I didn’t really care. I was out in the fresh air, listening to the sound of the waves and playing chicken with them just as I had as a child. Sometimes photography is about ‘getting the shot’, but this particular time it was more about having fun with the waves.
